Yesterday over Instagram I shared my "go-to" breakfast of last week. I believe it will be my favorite this week as well. For some reason I have been craving toast and a good serving of veggies every morning. Sadly, I ran out of my favorite brown rice bread from Ener-g, which gave me the chance to try out the bread my family loves from a local Colorado bakery. I have mentioned this brand before on here when I did my healthier french toast recipe back in November. My family still loves the bread and every time I go to Sam's Club I snatch a couple of loaves.

2 slices of Bavarian Bakery Organic Sunflower-seed Bread
hummus (as a spread to my toast)
a side of sourkraut
2 cups of fresh veggies (zucchini, peppers, onion, leeks and broccoli)
1/2 cup of liquid egg-whites (organic from the carton)
On a good day this egg situation becomes an omelet. As you can probably tell from the photo, on particular day I was not so lucky with the flipping, so I turned it into a scramble. Awww, the beauty of cooking for your self... Who cares what the end product looks like, as long as it taste delish!
Also, every since my food sensitivity test results, I have been staying away from my favorite protein bar from QuestNutrition. I have instead enjoyed a green concoction for my afternoon snack.
My afternoon Green Shake...
I have to admit that this photo was from a similar green smoothie recipe I posted on the blog a while back. While all green smoothies and shakes are not created equal, they sure all look the same!!
Am I right???
My afternoon green shake:
10 oz of unsweetened almond milk
2 cups of organic baby spinach
2 tbsp. of ground flax-seeds
1/2 a scoop of vegan protein powder
1 tbsp. of PB2 (powder peanut butter)
1 cup of ice
stevia and cinnamon to taste
I just throw it all in my OmniV, blend, serve and enjoy it!
I am a creature of habit. When I find a food combo I like I stick to it until I get sick of it. Eating the same types of foods keeps me accountable and helps me out a lot when creating my weekly grocery shopping list.
FYI! I just received my "detox" diet from Charlene, and I am starting it next week. A few of you said you wanted an update on this so, I will post one in about 3 weeks. The detox diet is for 14 days. Again, it is not a calorie restrictive diet nor a juice cleanse. I am really looking forward to starting it and feeling better.
Question of the day:
Are you like me when it comes to food combos? What are your trendy eats as of lately?
