Vega Berry Pancakes & Farrell's Kickboxing Bag Class

Happy Monday!  I hope you are having a good start to your week. It is Spring Break for us and even though there is no need to get up at six in the morning this week, my day began at five in the morning with one thing in mind: Vega berry protein  pancakes...
ME, hungry?? Shocking, I know!

You know you are a foodie when you are woken up by hunger.  I do wish I could be one of those people that sleep past nine in the morning like the rest of my family.  I just can not do it, I feel like I am wasting  my day away otherwise.

On my Vega Berry Pancakes:
1 scoop of Vega berry protein powder
1/3 cup of old fashion oats (turned to flour on coffee grinder)
3 tbsp. of liquid egg-whites
1/2 tsp. of baking powder
a pinch of cinnamon
1/4 cup + 3 tbsp of water

Combine in a bowl & whisk away!

I cooked them just like I would a regular pancake (spray your pan, a couple of minutes on one side at medium high heat, wait for those bubbles, flip and a couple of minutes on the other side,)
and topped them with strawberries, maple syrup and a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds.  Delish!

I enjoyed my pancakes with a cup of coffee while watching the Today show this morning.  I am not a Today show fan but I heard that Laura Vitale was the guest chef this morning and I just had to tune in.  Are you a Laura fan?  I love how down to earth she is.  Did you watch the segment?   I think she did a great job!
Anywhosers... Who is a Groupon lover??  I love browsing their site daily.  Last week I found an awesome deal for a 3 week kickboxing bag class. I have always wanted to try a kickboxing bag class,  so with no hesitation I purchased the deal.  My groupon expires on April 19th so you know I had every intention on starting TODAY.

Around 8:30 this morning I headed to Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping...
Farrell's is about a 30 minute drive from where I live.  They offer various morning classes but I chose to attend their 9am class.  I love how Costco and WholeFoods are not too far away from Farrell's,  I foresee a lot of time spent at those 2 stores in the next 3 weeks.  I love when you can find parking spots right up front a fitness establishment , quick escape if all goes wrong quick exit for those who are a sweaty mess after a good workout.

The Groupon included 3 sessions of cardio and 3 sessions of strength training a week for a total of 3 weeks.  Also included on the deal were these cute boxing gloves and attendance card.
After arrival the instructor shows you how to properly wrap your hands before wearing your gloves and what to expect in the class.  This was my first time taking one of these classes so I certainly appreciated the information.  As a newbie, you get partnered up with a class veteran.  My partner was super nice and helpful and definitely made my experience a lot smoother.  I loved that although you were working with a partner you could still workout at your own level.
Somehow we ended up in the front of the room...
I tend to always go to the front of the room, because I get distracted easily and I like to get the most out of my workouts.  However, when trying a class for the very first time I do enjoy the back of the room, that way I can see what I am getting my self in to.

In conclusion... the class was a lot of fun!
I will say, it did feel like an intermediate level class to me, which as a newbie I appreciated.  My partner did warn me about their Friday class; apparently it is intense.  Needless to say I am looking forward to it!

I will keep you posted on my experience with Farrell's!

Have you tried Farrell's or a kickboxing bag class before?  What do you think?
