2 for 1: Valentine-Anytime Chocolate & Vanilla Almond Protein Cakes

Happy Valentine's Day Week!  I wanted to share a couple of simple recipes this week that are easy to make, and you can enjoy, indulge and still stay on track with your fitness and health goals.  The best part is that you only need a handful of ingredients.  Very simple to prepare and chances are, if you are already a healthy eater, you probably have the majority if not all of the ingredients at home.

Although, these look dangerous... they are completely clean, delicious, nutritious and packed with good quality protein.  Go ahead eat half... eat a whole one... You can over indulge on these ;o))

Since Valentine's Day is all about sharing, love and all things in pair...  I am bringing you 2 guiltless protein cake options you can enjoy on the big L.O.V.E day ;o)...  

Valentine Anytime Chocolate & Vanilla Protein Cakes

For the Chocolate Whey Protein Lover!!!
 Ingredients (serves 2):
4 egg-whites (not the ones in the carton)
1/4 tsp. of cream of tartar
1 scoop of NeoCell's Recovery shake (see my review & giveaway here)
2 tbsp. of baking Truvia
1/4 tsp. of kosher salt
1 tsp. of ground cinnamon
2 tbsp. of cold brewed coffee
1/2 tsp. of baking powder
1 tbsp. of unsweetened cocoa powder

a large bowl
a bread (loaf) pan 
baking or cooking spray
an electric hand mixer (or if you missed your arm workout this week, use a whisk)
spatula or spoon

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl add in your 4 egg whites, cream of tartar and salt.  Beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until it forms soft peaks.  Add in the rest of the ingredients and gently fold the ingredients in to egg white mixture with a spatula. Beat a low speed with your hand mixer, until your mixture is well incorporated. Spray your bread pan well with baking spray (this step is very important otherwise the cake will stick to your pan) and pour in your mixture.  Bake for 16-18 minutes depending on your oven.  Let the cake cool completely before cutting. 
For the Vanilla Brown Rice Protein lover...
 Ingredients:
4 egg-whites (again,not the ones in the carton)
1/4 tsp. of cream of tartar
1 scoop and 1 tbsp. of Vanilla Growing Naturals (brown rice protein powder)
2 tbsp. of baking Truvia
1/4 tsp. of kosher salt
a pinch of nutmeg
1 tsp. of almond extract
1/2 tsp. of baking powder

a large bowl
a bread pan 
baking or cooking spray
an electric hand mixer
spatula or spoon

Directions are the same!!! ;o))

You can make these cakes for any occasion, birthdays, as a nightly treat... Whenever!

  If you want to be a bit festive, feel free to use a heart shape mold on Valentine's DAY!
